It is official that April 15, 2020, the due date for federal returns, has been extended to July 15, 2020. There are no additional penalties or interest charges for anyone that owes money and does not pay until July 15, 2020.

What is important to know, however, is that this is for income taxes only. Other taxes, such as payroll and sales taxes, are fiduciary taxes and are due on their regularly scheduled dates. These taxes have been withheld from employees or customers to be remitted to the appropriate agency and do not have any deferrals.
