Tuxedo Appalachian "Trail Angels" Annual Picnic

Friday evening, the Tuxedo Appalachian "Trail Angels" held their annual picnic at Wee Wah Lake Park.

The Trail Angels are a group of residents from Tuxedo and Tuxedo Park who deliver fresh water to the Appalachian Trail, which passes through the northern part of Tuxedo on its 2,100-mile path from Georgia to Maine. A logbook is left by the water where the hikers write heartfelt words of gratitude. That is the reward. Village resident Sally Sonne leads the effort, which has been in operation since 1999 when her daughter Edie hiked the trail and told her about how much the hikers relied on “angels” along the way.
