Village Lakes

Mission Statement

Chaired by Jim Hays, we aim to protect our lakes and streams from all forms of pollution above and below ground, artificial and naturally occurring. Our main body of water is tuxedo lake, and it is also our drinking reservoir where we produce our communities supply of potable drinking water. Our two remaining bodies of water, Pond No: 3 and Wee Wah Lake, are our backup water supply. Our water is purified at our water plant located at the bottom of Chatsellux Lane at Tuxedo Lake.

We actively participate in the Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program (CSLAP), a volunteer lake monitoring and education program managed cooperatively by DEC and the New York State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA). The program was adapted from successful volunteer monitoring programs in Vermont, Maine, Minnesota, and Illinois. CSLAP is one of the nation's longest-running, continuous volunteer monitoring programs. Through this program, relationships between lake associations, academic and private research institutions, and local and state entities are built statewide.
