Water Department

The Village Water Department maintains the distribution pipe ranging in size from 6” to 12” and is also responsible for the portion of the water service from the water main to the curb box. Any problems from the curb box to the house and all indoor plumbing is the responsibility of the property owner.

Water Information

The Village of Tuxedo Park reads the meters and bills for water usage four times a year. If the meter reader cannot read your meter, he will leave a self-addressed card for you to complete and mail back to the Village Office with the meter reading you take from your inside reader. If you have any questions when you receive your bills, notify the Village Office at 845-351-4745 immediately.

Water bills for Residential and Commercial customers are billed as follows:

Q1 – April – for a service period of January, February, and March.

Q2 – July – for a service period of April, May, and June

Q3 – October – for a service period of July, August, and September.

Q4 – January – for a service period of October, November, and December.   

A property owner who has failed to receive their water bill promptly is still responsible for the timely payment of water/sewer rents and any late penalty. An owner of real property has an obligation to be aware of the existence of a water meter on his premises and take appropriate action to see that the meter bills are rendered and paid. An implied contract arises between the property owner and the municipality for water use during the period he was not billed. The owner is liable for the unpaid water/sewer rents plus any late penalties.

Control of Water

The water supply to any premises shall not be turned off or turned on (except in case of emergency) at the curb except by an authorized employee of the Village of Tuxedo Park DPW. When the water is turned off in an emergency, the Village Office DPW must be notified within twenty-four hours.

Water Meters

All water used on any premises or for any purpose is metered.

Only meters that have been furnished or approved by the Village of Tuxedo Park shall be installed. Upon the application, a meter will be furnished to each service by the Village of Tuxedo Park at the initial expense of the owner.

The meters shall remain the property of the Village of Tuxedo Park. Any damage to a meter sustained by reasons of carelessness by the owner or their tenants of the premises shall be replaced by the Village of Tuxedo Park at the property owner’s expense.

All meters shall be located, placed, and kept free from all obstructions to allow easy access by the Village of Tuxedo Park Meter Reader. No person shall tamper with the water meter and or valves, fittings, and connections.

Water Rate

The current water rate for a Residential property is:

$13.71 per 1,000 gallons of water usage or $0.01371 per gallon.

The minimum amount billed quarterly is $136.54, which includes a Capital Improvement fee of $20.00.  The minimum number of gallons is 8,500.  Customers using above 8,500 gallons quarterly will be billed for total gallons consumed.

The current water rate for a Commercial property is:

$16.85 per $1,000 gallons of water usage or $0.016850 per gallon.

The minimum amount billed quarterly is $232.20, which includes a Capital Improvement fee of $30.00.  The minimum number of gallons is 12,000.  Customers using above 12,000 gallons quarterly will be billed for total gallons consumed.
