Mayor's Open Letter to the Village and WWBC Community

Fact Check

Posted August 12, 2021
Dear Neighbors,

I hope everyone is safe and well.

Next Wednesday, as noted in TPFYI.com, the Board is holding a Public Hearing on Local Law No. 1 of 2021 – A Local law to repeal and replace village law § 65-4, rules and regulations applicable to Wee Wah Lake.

This change is consistent with my understanding with the WWBC Executive Committee to clear the way for discussions on Wee Wah Lake and Bathing Beach (See Committee Mission Statement on the New Village Website).

In the spring of 2021, the Village Board and WWBC Executive Committee agreed to work together to determine the most efficient way to manage the facility for the coming 2022 season. These discussions could result in the Village running the finances of the facility and the WWBC running the day-to-day operations. One thing not under consideration is eliminating Hamlet memberships. The mayor offered the WWBC a 5-10 year membership to never eliminate the membership in the future.

In mid-August, an unnamed realtor approached me about selling the property. They requested buying the entire property and would contribute to relocating the DPW. While the property's current use is a recreational facility open to WWBC members in the Village and Hamlet (restricted), the Board takes all offers seriously. Our first responsibility is to the Village Properties taxpayers.

The mayor’s Co-Management Proposal and Draft Local Law can be found on the links below.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

David McFadden
