About Jared Kasschau, Esq., Partner

Jared has extensive experience as a litigator in private practice and the public sector, providing him with unique insights into the challenges facing organizations, municipal governments and agencies. He focuses on business and commercial litigation, ranging from complex ownership disputes to straightforward breach of contract cases.

Jared represents municipalities and agencies in both municipal litigation and transactional matters. His experience in this area is informed by his service as Nassau County Attorney, where he served as Chief Legal Officer and oversaw the work of 55 attorneys, six special investigators and 24 staff spread across five bureaus.

As a municipal attorney, Jared is experienced in Article 78 litigation, taxpayer lawsuits, civil rights claims, employment disputes, tax certiorari and related matters. He has a deep understanding of legislation/policy development and drafting, municipal procurement and contracting, labor and employment, union negotiations, real estate planning, zoning and land-use matters.

In the area of government compliance and investigations, Jared handles audits and investigations, advises clients on subpoenas and requests for information and interfaces with law enforcement, inspectors general, enforcement counsel, and other criminal and civil oversight bodies. He counsels individuals and both for-profit and non-profit organizations in connection with government regulatory and compliance investigations. As Nassau County Attorney, Jared interfaced with the U.S. Department of Justice, New York Attorney General, Nassau County District Attorney, Nassau County Comptroller and Nassau County Office of Inspector General.

Across his career, Jared has also developed extensive experience in all aspects of New York State Election and Campaign Finance Law. He’s represented candidates for federal, state and local offices, including candidates for the U.S. presidency. He’s counseled candidates through every phase of the election process, from ballot access to post-election recounts. Jared also has significant experience in campaign finance matters, including registration, filing obligations, termination and winding up committees, and audits and investigations.

Jared also has significant experience conducting elections and has advised and counseled municipalities, school districts, and other special districts on election and referendum procedures, as well as in actions brought by candidates or voters. Jared is also a member of the Nassau County Temporary Districting Commission and has extensive knowledge of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, New York’s John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, and Ch. 36-A, Art. 2, § 10 of the New York State Municipal Home Rule Law.
