With change comes opportunity - WWBC

The majority of the board voted yesterday to follow the recommendation of the Wee Wah Park Committee chaired by Denise Tavani and award the WWBC contract to aquatic management firm NYS Pools Management.

On behalf of the membership and community, I want to thank the WWBC Executive Committee for providing an excellent service to the town and village membership. As mayor, I pledge to continue the level of service you have grown accustomed to and make improvements for hamlet members and village members for years to come.

We begin with a series of strategy meetings with NYS Pools beginning tomorrow to tighten up the service contract, including the proper personnel count on staff, safety measures, insurance, and the details critical to healthy recreation. Including expanding the park's hours, offering more membership choices, and establishing fair and reasonable membership fees. For example, we intend to keep last year's guest pass rates and system in place by popular demand.

We will continue with the morning yoga classes and, in the future, build a yoga studio onsite that will operate year-round. We expect three landscape architecture firms to submit concept drawings by December 31, 2021, to renovate Wee Wah Park. We will choose a winner and enter the design presentation phase and fundraising phase of the project in early 2022. The design program for the park includes new bathrooms, a boat dock, and facility to rent boats, an outdoor gathering spot for music and talks and community events, and upgrading and replacing all of the equipment. We are about to embark on exciting times.

Shortly we will begin promoting memberships, and we look forward to signing up more residents this season than ever before. With change comes opportunity, and we look forward to a terrific and fulfilling 2022 summer season!
