Milfoil Treatment: Tuxedo Park Lakes Management Report

Tuxedo Park Lakes Management Report

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are pleased to inform you that Alejandro (A.J.) Reyes, a Certified Lake Manager, NALMS, and Aquatic Ecologist/Project Manager at GEI Consultants, has been hired by the village Board to provide expert oversight of our lakes. A.J. brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the village lakes manager for many years with NEAR.

Following the successful Milfoil treatment conducted last year, we conducted a Lakes Management Report, which indicated no signs of Milfoil reemergence in any of the three lakes. Before deciding to continue treatment this season, we requested A.J. to conduct an onsite visual inspection. We are pleased to share that the inspection, completed this week, revealed the absence of Milfoil in all lakes. However, we have observed a healthy growth of pondweed (Potamogeton pusillus), a native species, in Pond No. 3 near the Turner House and dam, and near the Mengel's and Regna's. Additionally, Tuxedo Lake has a moderate amount of filamentous algae and a small presence of cyanobacteria. A.J. has provided us with the option to treat this algae issue.

Rest assured that we are actively monitoring the lake conditions and taking appropriate steps to maintain their health and beauty.

Best regards,

Mayor Mac
