Police Department Medical Call Response

Police Department Medical Call Response

I am pleased to announce that the Tuxedo Park Police Department now has a Defibrillator, and our officers have trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Special thanks to Village resident Lesley Devore, a Tuxedo Ambulance Corp. member and certified instructor, who trained all our officers, full-time and part-time.

AED is a medical device designed to analyze the heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal. Ventricular fibrillation is the uncoordinated heart rhythm most often responsible for sudden cardiac arrest.

Most of the time, a police officer is the first to respond to a medical call. Having oxygen, a defibrillator, and officers trained in CPR/AED are critical when minutes and seconds count the most.
